Android games are coming to Windows next year! Rejoice gamers, for Google is bringing Google Play Games to the Windows ecosystem in 2022. With the Google Play Games app, Android games would be playable on Windows laptops, tablets, and PCs sometime in the next year.

In a statement to The Verge, Google’s product director of games on Android and Google Play, Greg Hartrell said that “players will be able to experience their favourite Google Play games more devices” starting 2022.

This, Hartrell added would allow seamless switching between a phone, tablet, and “soon, Windows PCs.”

Google spokesperson Alex Garcia-Kummert told The Verge that Google has built the Windows app on its own, without partnering with Windows maker Microsoft.

The best part Gamers would be able to resume games on a desktop PC/Windows laptop after playing them on a phone or a tablet, Garcia-Kummert revealed.

The app was teased at The Game Awards by Google on Thursday. While it’s unclear when the app would be available, 2022 is the year!

Not too long ago, Microsoft started testing Android apps on Windows 11 PCs. Microsoft partnered with Amazon to bring Android apps to Windows, implying that the roster of apps would be rather limit.

With Google announcing its own version of Google Play Games for Windows, the entire Android catalogue could be available to play on your Windows PC soon. It appears that Google also wants to extend the same courtesy to Apple Macs in the future.
